College Park Scholars Public Leadership ePortfolio
Purpose Statement
As a student, intellectual curiosity has been a constant. Since elementary school, I always wanted to get new workbooks to continue to learn and gain knowledge. However, as useful as book smarts can be, I found that I was more interested in gaining information about different perspectives of the world and broadening my lens of my environment. After studying abroad in Panama and collecting insights from other students around the world, I have continued to search for the refreshing feeling of being able to view my life from the outside in. The unique aspect of the Public Leadership program compared to the other programs offered through College Park Scholars is that the curriculum is not based around book smarts, but rather personal development. Apart from wanting to improve my leadership skills, I hope to get that refreshing feeling as I learn from the other students in the program who come from a variety of backgrounds different from my own. I am looking forward to working through the program for the first two years of my college experience and I am excited to look back and see how I have grown.
